Goose, Gander ;-)
The Post reports that the State GOP filed a Freedom of Information request with Attorney General Eliot Spitzer’s office for e-mails related to his recent Post-friendly threats:
State GOP Chairman Stephen Minarik filed a sweeping Freedom of Information request yesterday for all of Attorney General Eliot Spitzer’s e-mails regarding his alleged threats against John Whitehead and others.
Minarik also sought “all e-mails sent from, or received by employees of the Department of Law” dealing with the alleged threats against Whitehead, the chairman of the Lower Manhattan Development Corp., and nationally syndicated talk-show host Sean Hannity.
Claiming, “We have nothing to hide,” Spitzer spokesman Darren Dopp said Minarik would be given the records.
Whitehead, the former chairman of Goldman Sachs, has charged that Spitzer declared “war” on him after he defended former American International Group CEO Maurice “Hank” Greenberg, who was being investigated by Spitzer, in an op-ed piece last year.
Spitzer, who has repeatedly denied leveling threats against him or anyone, conceded yesterday he has had a tendency to “shake the cage a little bit.”
Spitzer, of course, is well known for scouring other people’s email for details about wrongdoing. New York Republicans sure have a wicked sense of humor . . .
