That’s 99 Trains A Day . . .
New federal regulations for trains at grade crossings have made it really fuckin’ loud for Little Neck residents who live near the city’s last such crossing:
New federal regulations went into effect last June that affect crossings and stations at ground level. Engineers now must blow the horn for 20 seconds, two long, one short and one long at these locations.
There are 99 scheduled trains that go through the area every day. The decibel level of the horn has been measured at 110.
