Queens Con Ed Customers Receive Higher Bills During July
Well now that’s a buzzkill:

Dozens of irate residents have complained to City Councilmen Eric Gioia and Peter Vallone Jr.
“It’s absolutely impossible,” said Sunnyside’s Samuel Wolfson, 66, whose bill went from $114.03 in June to $116.71 in July. “There’s no way I used more electricity during the blackout month.”
His bill says he used 465 kilowatts of electricity in June and 499 last month.
“I had no electricity for seven to 10 days, then four or five days with partial electricity, but somehow I used more?” he asked.
. . .
An angry Councilman Gioia said, “Con Ed . . . should be issuing apologies and reimbursements — not inflated bills.”
But Con Ed spokeswoman Joy Faber said the bills likely “reflect the fact that [customers] used more power.”
