Blame The Internet
The Nigerian e-mail scam migrates from virtual reality to reality reality; authorities discover that dupes are just as gullible in real life:
Posted: May 17th, 2007 | Filed under: Law & OrderIn a bizarre-sounding crime, two 55-year-old women are being sought for reportedly ripping off $10,000 from a 57-year-old after showing her an equally large amount of cash in a bag.
. . .
The incident took place on Wednesday, April 11th, at approximately 9:20 a.m. at the corner of Liberty Ave. and 112th St. According to the victim, she was approached by the two women, described as black, who showed her money they supposed “found” in a bag.
The suspects told the victim they wanted to invest the cash, but needed an additional $10,000 from her to complete the deal. Apparently, that seemed like a fine idea to their patsy, who readily supplied them with the money. However, after turning it over, the suspects fled in an older model four-door sedan with blue paint.
